General Information

Cümbüs is a stringed Turkish instrument that is widely used all around the country and the world by several musician.

By Structure it’s similar to western banjo and the tuning is similar to eastern oud.

“Cümbüs” consists of two parts, an aluminum body and a wooden neck with a fretless fingerboard while having 6 double row strings.

The original sound of Cümbüs is created by an aluminum body but today copper and wood are also used for accesing different tones.

This combination creates a very rich sound scale, enables musicians to play Cümbüs with different genres all around the world.

Inspired by traditional “Baglama”, Cümbüş Saz has a smaller body and a thinner neck.

Aluminum, copper or wood are options for body, accesing different sound tones

While having 3 double row strings, this instrument offers two necks;

Long -24 frets (Tuning: A-D-G)

Short- 19 frets (Tuning: D-G-A)

Cümbüs Tambur
General Information

Amongst famous Turkish instruments, Tambur has 6 strings and 54 frets.

Cümbüş Tambur has a standart size Cümbüş body and a long but thin neck.

By changing the bridge it may be played with either bow or a plectrum.

Aluminum body has a deeper sound scale, while the wood option offers warmer tones.
